Ankit, a data engineer by profession, recently got introduced to running. He never knew he would get addicted to it that soon. He now runs, just for happiness & a sense of determination and satisfaction; believing in just 5 words – “As you run you become !”
After being an active person throughout my childhood & college, life came to standstill once work started to eat up most of my personal time. And then came a small accident, which left me with 3+ months of difficult walking, adding more sedimentary phase to my existing alluvial lifestyle.
With almost no activity and a sleep deprived human, weight kept on pounding.- From 64 Kg to 78 Kg in 2 years, leading to a continuous flow of comments from friends and family (you know how caring the Indian family & friends are 😛 )
On one fine day (of feb-2016), out of the blue I registered for a 10K run (for reasons unknown) and ran and ran… And When I saw the timing meter indicating 01:24:01; I was astounded at the ability of a 78 kg human body bursting with saturated fats.
And then started an addiction for running; an addiction which makes me proud each day. 4 months down the run, I found a transformed, determined and a blissful guy of 73 kg (5 kg in 4 months – Not that bad, I must say). But it’s not about weight anymore – Happiness, determination and satisfaction is what it brings along with it. Till date (from Feb 2016) three10K, three-5K official running, apart from various unofficial practice 3, 5 & 12 K runs. I have started to realize the worth of my existence now and I am glad that I started running.
Now a member of an awesome running group @OMR Dreamers (A Chennai running based group) which never fails to motivates me each day. And to the top of it I now have #100daysofrunning which have led to an another addiction. I am all set to make it 100+ days of continuous running (Willing to make it to a 365 day mark).
So that’s my story and enough wisdom shower, yelling just one thing – RUNNNN
“Bid me run and I will strive with things impossible.”
