100 days of running – A HOBBY, A PASSION AND NOW AN ADDICTION
Hi, I am Dr Umesh Yadav, 31 years, an orthopaedician by profession from Rohtak. At present ,I am working as Assistant Professor in Department of Orthopaedics. Running was never in my “to-do-list’ specially after daily dealing with many running related injuries and sportsmen with injured ligaments on daily basis. In august 2017 when I shifted to my new residence, I started going to nearby ground and do little bit of walk and running but that too stopped abruptly when I suffered from Grade III ankle sprain.
When i was immobilized for 2 weeks, I realized the importance of mobility in our lives. Things started changing from 12th Dec, 2017 when I started running seriously. Running in those foggy winters was a thrilling experience in itself. So it turned out to be a hobby. Ranging from 2 km to 26.7 km, I have ran on roads, grounds and treadmill, sunlight, night or rain. Till now I have ran in 4 different cities- Rohtak, Narnaul, Panchkula and Udaipur.
100 days of running
So when I completed my 100 days of running, I counted it as an achievement but after few days I started feeling running little boring. Than on Facebook, I saw HDOR challenge 2018 and this gave me the boost or spark I needed to carry on running. So on 28th April, when it was started, I was on my 138th day of running and successfully completed my 200 days of running on 29 June 2018.
Facebook page of HDOR motivated a lot, specially our top runners. I use to daily check FB page of HDOR and use to compare distance, timings and all. Suddenly I felt like I was not running alone but community is running with me. If all goes well, on completion of HDOR i.e. 5th August, I will be completing 238 days of running. My next target is 365 days of running and if God permits I want to continue it, till next edition of HDOR.
